UPDATE!!!
I just found a forum, and I tried this trick and worked fine. LOL :D
I joined a lot of internet forums, one of which is Kaskus. Kaskus is the largest Indonesia forum. There is a uniqueness in Kaskus, where the member who already has a number of posts more than 2000 could give reputation to other users , good or bad reputation. In kaskus, reputation is very important considering Kaskus is also a major online trading site in Indonesia. So, the member who has a good reputation is certainly more credible by potential buyers. Because of that, many of members make a multiple account and write a post as often as possible in order to quickly reach 2000 posts number. With multiple account, it can give reputation to their own another account.
Then, what's the relevance of it with this post? :)
"...as often as possible...", imagine if you open that forum on your mobile and it'll opened as mobile site version! More lighter, more faster. But with you do that on your phone, it'll take a lot of time just for typing the post. Try open the mobile site version on your firefox, it'll automatically redirected to full version because server detected your firefox as your full web browser. I think if I can open mobile site on firefox as mobile site instead of full site, I can post more often because I can open multiple tab, typing more faster, better connection than my phone and much more.
How can I do that? Want to know? Please continue reading this post :)
Browser Identity
When browser open a web page, it sends a header that contains a lot of informations to the server. One of them is user agent string that contains information about browser identity. Example of user agent string, this is on my firefox:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050512 Firefox
With it, server can recognize what type of browser that make a request.
Changing the User Agent
Want to be another browser? Just change the user agent string, as simple as that!!! But how to do that? There is several way, but I'll tell you the easiest way :)
Note: this is for Firefox only, Google Chrome has this add-ons. But not work well in some User Agent.
- Install User Agent Switcher add-on On Firefox, goto Tools → Add-ons → Get Add-ons and search for User Agent Switcher there.
- Once found, click Add to Firefox and click Install
- Restart Firefox after finished
- Now you can change your user agent from Tools → Default User Agent and choose user agent that you want to use. Or you can add new user agent by clicking Tools → Default User Agent → Edit User Agent → New User Agent
- Fill the Description field with initial name for your own user agent, and User Agent field with the user agent code, you can leave another field blank. In example:
Description: Opera Mini User Agent: Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.1.15082/22.414; U; en) Presto/2.5.25 Version/10.54
Some site say we can access private forum by this way. Simply by change user agent to Google Bot user agent. In theory, it's right. But I've try it and didn't work. Maybe because most servers have closed access to private forum as well as for the Google Bot.
