I've used this method on my Ubuntu and worker. Please note that I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 with GRUB2.
Using Ubuntu LIVE CD
Boot your computer into Live Session. Mount your Ubuntu partition you want to be recovered from Places menu. If you have multiple Ubuntu partition (i.e. /home /boot etc), you need to mount /boot partition.
Few days ago after I've posted post "How To Reset Forgotten Ubuntu Password", someone ask me (or maybe not ask but give an opinion) about the security of Linux (we all know, "security" is one of the majority feature that Linux offered to us). How about the security if we can reset the root password as easy as that my post said.
After that, I think about that. And I haven't found the answer until now. But, I've got this useful tutorial from Ubuntu Forum. How we can set password protection to our GRUB
I have a funny experience. Few days ago, my senior (at my office) ask me to change his computer password (Windows XP Professional). He said, "...please tell me how to change my password. Just tell me the way and I'll change the password by myself...". When I asked him the reason, his answer is "...so you can't use my computer anymore..." :D
Yesterday, he called me. "...panoet, do you know my new password?..." and of course "NO" is my answer. "...Why you ask to me? Yesterday you've changed your password. Right?...". Guess, what his answer?
"I've forgotten my new password!"! LOL, I think. Yesterday you want to change your password so I can't use your computer and know you ask me the password because you've forgotten your new password. Is it sounds silly, right?
Have you ever experienced anything like that? Lost your Windows password? If you have, how to fix that?
Introduced in April 1976 and terminated in March 1977. Looks ugly, but this is the first Apple computer! Despite that, but Apple I was priced $ 666 in his era!
Apple II
Introduced in April 1977 and terminated in May 1979. Very similar to a typewriter. But if you look at the Apple I, was already a change very much. It does not use wood case anymore, so the more interesting views. For machines that are used, is still relatively the same except for an additional "new" features, i.e. : RAM expansion slot, floppy, better video resolution and others.
Apple II+
Introduced in June 1979 and terminated in December 1982. I think personally, this is the "real computer"! At least similar to the computers we know today. Additional features of the most prominent of these is the 48 kB RAM On Board! "VERY BIG" RAM capacity.
Apple IIe
Released in January 1983, The Apple IIe was to be one of the most successful Apple computers ever. It was based on the 6502 processor, which could run at 1.02 MHz. It came with 64K of RAM and a 32K ROM which included BASIC, an assembly language interface, and several other hard-coded options. The Apple ][e originally sold for $1,395, and was replaced in 1985 by an updated model. In 1984 the name was changed from Apple IIe to Apple //e, coinciding with the release of the Apple //c.
